Role description

The NEDs will join an established, effective board consisting of three executive directors and six non-executive directors which meets at least quarterly. We are seeking two new NEDs, one to focus on growth and the other on renewable project operations, who share our vision and values and have the experience, insight and dynamic approach needed to facilitate our ambitious growth plans.

For both roles, responsibilities are to:

  • Provide independent oversight and constructive challenge to the Board and executive team, ensuring alignment with Thrive Renewables mission, values, and strategic objectives.
  • Attend Board meetings and contribute expertise and insights to board discussions on matters such as strategic planning, financial management, risk mitigation, and performance.
  • Engage with investors and act as an ambassador for the business.
  • Uphold the highest standards of corporate governance, ethics, and integrity, fostering a culture of transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Additionally:

Growth-focused NED

  • Leverage your strong network in the investment and energy sectors to support Thrive’s ambitious growth plans.
  • Provide insight, expertise and practical support in raising capital for growth.
  • Offer support in growing and developing the team.
  • With your experience in UK high growth businesses, provide counsel and insight to the board and senior management team.
  • Bring experience of listed and unlisted businesses.

Renewable Project Operations-focused NED

  • Provide insight, support and mentoring for the team through your expertise and technical know-how in:
    - UK HS&E knowledge and competence.
    - renewable energy project development (wind, solar, hydro, BESS).
    - renewable energy operations, maintenance and management (wind, solar, hydro, BESS).
    - portfolio and asset management of renewable energy.
    - renewable energy project due diligence.

Skills/experience required

Our ideal candidates will have a background of high growth phase companies or funds. They will have previous NED experience or be demonstrably ready to step into their first board role. The most important thing is what they will bring to the business. We are looking for people who:

  • are mission driven and passionate about delivering a positive impact.
  • have strategic thinking skills and experience in delivering long term strategies.
  • have excellent interpersonal, collaborative and mentoring skills.
  • have previous experience building and developing teams.
  • have a detailed knowledge of the UK energy market and/or investment landscape.
  • have skills and experience specific to the responsibilities of the growth and operations focused NED roles described above.
