Celebrating Thrive’s inspirational women

  • Posted: 08 Mar 2021

It’s International Women’s Day, an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of women striving to make the world a better place.

As a B Corp we are committed to continued improvement, striving to make Thrive a more inclusive and diverse business. Our current executive team has a 50% female to male ratio. In addition, the recent promotion of Monika Paplaczyk to the Board brings its gender diversity to 4 women and 5 men.

Meet some of our inspirational women:

Katrina Cross

Katrina is Thrive’s Finance Director and Company Secretary. But did you know, only 15% of FSTE 100 Finance Directors are women, and women only make up one third of Board roles in FTSE 350 companies. As a qualified accountant Katrina has been leading finance teams for over 20 years bringing this experience and leadership to Thrive.

“Working for Thrive and knowing that we’re making a difference, fills me with an incredible sense of pride and satisfaction. Our ability to enable regular people to take direct action on climate change and the enthusiasm of our community to achieve this goal is inspiring. I love working with a team of talented and passionate people with genuine desire to make the world a better place”

Monika Paplaczyk

Monika has been with Thrive for 14 years and has just been promoted to Investment Director. In this time she has brought 20 sustainable energy projects to life, including onshore wind, solar, hydro, geothermal, battery storage and renewable heat. She has been instrumental in driving the growth and diversification of our portfolio.

“What I love most about working for Thrive is it’s a community, we bring people together for a common goal. I’ve always enjoyed work that pushes you to think outside the box, to find new ways of getting projects off the ground. As a woman I’ve always found the renewable energy sector to be friendly and welcoming. At Thrive I’ve grown my knowledge, experience, and career thanks to the support of my team. As Investment Director I will continue to drive Thrive’s mission forward, investing in new projects that will power the UK’s transition to a clean energy future.”

Louise Daniels

Louise, Head of Communications, has more than 25 years’ experience in PR. Starting out in consultancy representing global brands, she moved into renewables 10 years ago and since then all her work has been focused on green energy and social justice.  Her unique insight enables us to reach further with our mission to power the clean energy transition.

“I first started promoting renewable energy ten years ago. The combination of tackling the climate emergency and generating sustainable economic benefit is massively motivating for me. There are so many commercially savvy, astute, dedicated, passionate and inspirational women in the sector and I learn from them every day.”

Bryony Carter

Bryony joined the Thrive team in 2019 as Communication Executive. As a marine biologist she has a passion for protecting the planet. Her creative flair helps us engage more people with renewable energy and the importance of reaching net zero.

“Working at Thrive makes me feel like I’m part of the solution. We’re a small team committed to using our skills and resources to tackle global climate change in practical and proven ways. My colleagues champion my strengths, allowing me to shine in my own way. It’s invigorating to work with people who are as passionate as I am about driving positive change and using business to make the world a better place.”
