We’re delighted to announce that we have been included on B Corp’s ‘Best For The World – Environment’ list, meaning we scored in the top 5% of all B Corps around the world in the environment category. This achievement highlights our decades long commitment to addressing the climate crisis through decarbonisation of the energy system.
Thrive certified as a B Corporation, businesses which meet the highest standards of environmental and social performance, in December 2020 with a score of 110.8. This qualified us as the highest scoring renewable energy company in the UK B Corp community at that time. We scored especially high in the Environment category, now securing ‘Best For The World’ status.

“Being listed in the top 5% of all B Corps globally in the environmental category is a huge achievement for Thrive. Our mission is to power the transition to a clean energy future so environmental performance is in our DNA. We’re proud to part of a growing, global community of companies dedicated to using business as a force for good. As we seek to reach Net Zero, we will continue to work hard to further reduce our environmental impact." - Matthew Clayton, Managing Director, Thrive Renewables
Since 1994 our wind, solar and hydro projects have saved 835,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions. We continue to invest in the future of the UK energy system with exciting new projects such as the UK’s first geothermal power plant in Cornwall, and Riding Sunbeams - community-owned solar farms aiming to power the railway network. We also invest in battery storage which will provide flexibility to the energy system allowing more renewables to be deployed.
We are most proud of our success in widening ownership of renewable energy projects. Our investor base now includes over 6,000 people, and Thrive Renewables funding has enabled several community energy groups to take ownership of local solar and wind farms.
The future has never looked so bright for the clean energy transition. With public support for climate action at its highest and a significant improvement in the policy environment, we are well placed for growth in 2021 and beyond. Looking forward, we hope to see the spirit of innovation combine with policy support and action, to make our vision of a clean, smart energy system, powered by the investment of many, a reality.
