Responding to yesterday’s government announcement on proposed amendments to the Contracts for Difference scheme Matthew Clayton, Managing Director at Thrive Renewables, said:

“This announcement is a gamechanger for the UK’s energy system – more onshore wind and solar power will mean cheaper, cleaner electricity for everyone. The proposed new round of government backed clean energy power auctions will provide the long-term price stability we need to invest in and build new renewable capacity for the UK. They reduce revenue uncertainty and re-open the door to lower cost funding, creating new opportunities for individual and community investors. With this scheme in place, we should be able to increase the amount of new projects we can fund and build, contributing the UK’s net zero commitments and ultimately lower energy bills for end users. We look forward to participating in the consultation on how renewable developers can improve engagement with local communities and offering insight on our experience of giving people the opportunity to invest in local renewable energy projects.”
