How can we harness the power of onshore wind post energy security strategy?
We’d now like to see attention turn to the fourth Contracts for Difference (CfD) auction which is due to take place imminently.

Our community benefit programme has provided funding to a range of buildings close to our project sites, making them more sustainable and accessible to the variety of groups who rely on them.
The Bridge of Orchy village hall was awarded £4,000 which paid for roof and floor insulation and was eligible for its proximity to our Beochlich hydro-electric site. The work was undertaken as part of a wider refurbishment, bringing the hall back into use and opening in the spring of 2017. The refurbished hall provides daytime activities for mums, children and older folk fighting isolation and offering inclusion in a remote area. The hall will also offer shelter to walkers on the popular West Highland Way.
"There can be no doubt that we have achieved something remarkable that will change the quality of life for a "very rural" community." John Kerr
Millom Baptist Church was successful in their application for funding to pay for loft insulation and new skylights. The work has made the school room, used by all groups that have use of the building, more comfortable in temperature and increased the amount of natural light. We were delighted to support this project close to the Haverigg II wind farm.
"We no longer need to put the electric lights on as the room is full of natural light and is so much warmer too." Jean Liney, Millom Baptist Church Secretary
Our very first grant awarded in the community benefit programme was to The Victoria Institute close to our Caton Moor wind farm. Funding of £3,200 allowed the management committee to replace draughty doors and windows as well as install new insulation, pipe lagging and water tank jacket. As we encourage in all our applications, work was carried out by local tradesmen.
"We are extremely grateful for the grant that has enabled us to carry out these important energy saving measures."
Have a look at our main community benefit programme page to learn more about the funding and how to apply.
