Thrive’s biggest project yet – a 14 turbine wind farm in the Scottish Borders – has reached a new milestone in construction. Recently the first concrete pour took place at Whitelaw Brae to secure stable foundations for the turbinesThe concrete base is crucial for ensuring the longevity and stability of the turbines so they can generate clean electricity for decades to come.

An on-site mixing plant was used to reduce vehicle use in the local area and boost efficiency. Construction materials for the civil works have also been sourced locallyThe works are being headed up by Scottish based construction company I & H Brown

We were really pleased to be on site to witness the first concrete pour, and it was even more special to be joined for the visit by our co-investors in the project, TopCashback. This is the second project to be funded by Fair Play Clean Energy Ltd, Thrive’s Joint Venture with TopCashback Sustainability, which brings together a combined £80 million in capital to fund new clean energy projects in the UK.”

Matthew Clayton, CEO, Thrive Renewables

Whitelaw Brae is on track to start generating clean electricity by 2026Once operational, it will be capable of generating enough clean electricity for around 45,000 homes a year.
