Avonmouth Wind Farm Open Day

  • Posted: 19 Jul 2019

Visit our Avonmouth wind farm as we open up the site to guests on Friday 13th and Saturday 14th September 2019 to celebrate Thrive’s 25th Birthday. Tickets are free, but you do need to book.

We’ve teamed up with Bristol Open Doors to offer local people the opportunity to see wind power in action. You can discover first-hand how our turbines transform wind into electricity to power our homes and businesses. This FREE event promises to be packed full of fun, family activities for all ages to enjoy.

ExplorerDome will be on site with their lively, interactive show about climate change, renewables and the Avonmouth turbines – all presented inside an immersive, inflatable planetarium dome. Come and meet the Thrive team and our partners to learn about renewable energy, ecology and energy efficiency.

Activities available

  • Watch the ExplorerDome show happening throughout the day to experience an interactive light show in a mobile planetarium and discover more about climate change and energy – science has never been so much fun!
  • Take a peek inside a wind turbine.
  • Take a nature safari around the site and see how many species you can find!
  • Talk to our team of ecologists and learn about how we work with nature on our wind farms.
  • Make a paper windmill and see how it turns, just like the real thing.
  • Family friendly face painting with biodegradable glitter.
  • Refreshments will be available, including locally sourced ice cream.
