Former wind farm

Brockholes wind farm

Project location

The three turbines are built just south of Grantshouse in the Scottish Borders.  The area experiences good wind resource with winds coming in off the North Sea.

Project summary

The Brockholes wind farm was built, and first began exporting renewable electricity to the grid, in 2012.  In 2017, Thrive was approached to provide a community bridge loan which would allow a wider group of individuals to acquire the project from the original developer.  We were delighted to be involved. The community bridge loan was repaid in full at the end of 2018.

In a normal year, the three Enercon E48 turbines produce enough renewable electricity to power the equivalent of about 1,700 UK homes.
