Boosting Scotland's hydro capacity
We part funded the construction and early operation of a 2MW hydro-electric project in the Scottish Highlands.
Built on the Inverbroom Estate, we were approached to bridge a funding gap, complementing the £6.7 million of long-term loans being provided by Virgin Money (Clydesdale Bank).
Connected to the grid in October 2020, Loch a Bhraoin has the potential to generate enough renewable electricity for around 2,250 average UK homes, saving more than 3,800 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually. With the loan now repaid, it’s a great example of investors, developers and landowners working together to get new renewable energy projects built!
