Brotherton wind farm

Our flexible funding offer brought Brotherton to life alongside a 6.9MW partner project.

Project summary

Working together with developers, Renewable Energy Ventures (REV), we provided mezzanine funding for two wind farms in Scotland. The first project we delivered together with REV was a three turbine wind farm in Fife. The second, a 4.6MW wind farm located within the Brotherton Estate near Johnshaven in Aberdeenshire. Thrive provided the capital for the project to be constructed in combination with senior debt and the developer’s own equity. The turbines were constructed during Spring 2017 and by the summer were generating clean, homegrown electricity, enough to meet the demand over 3,000 homes a year.

In 2019 REV sold the wind farm to a new owner who continued operation of the project. Thrive’s mezzanine debt was repaid from the sale of the project, releasing funds for us to grow more clean energy elsewhere.
