Inverbroom hydro project

2MW hydro project in the ‘loch of drizzling rain’.

Project summary

Loch a’Bhraoin is nestled in the Valley of Wester Ross in the Scottish Highlands, an area well known for its abundant water resource. Thrive provided a mezzanine loan to fund construction of Inverbroom hydro project which has been generating clean electricity since 2020.  The project was largely constructed by local contractors to support businesses in the area. To optimise efficiency, the project is made up of two turbines connected by a buried pipeline to the river that increases the water pressure and flow. Water extracted is returned to the same water course downstream. Thrive’s loan was repaid in 2024.
